1841 Alsatian Marriage Chest with Original Painted Details

An early nineteenth century Alsatian marriage chest dated 1841 and inscribed in gold for Anna Christen. The façade is organized in three arched panels with original painted ornament that defines the structure of the front. The gold script above the arches follows regional lettering traditions and clearly identifies the owner and occasion. The interior retains its original till with fitted lid, a characteristic feature of rural Alsatian cabinetry. The surface shows rich color and natural age, presenting a well-preserved example of authentic period craftsmanship.
